Frank Hirata
This past Summer I had the pleasure of meeting Frank Hirata. Frank is a professional skateboarder, musician, and a genuinely nice person. He works at Woodward West during the summer where he instructs skateboarding, helps run the music program with his band mates Kimber and Eric, and performs several times a week with their band End of June. I’m not much of a music critic, but I enjoyed their music, and I guess I would describe it as melodic and somewhat folkish. Frank asked me to take some photos for a solo project he is working on. Phillip and Courtney
Last week I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Phillip Wasson to Courtney Buser. Phil is an old friend and Courtney a new one. I spent several days with Courtney, Phillip, their friends and family, and it was a very enjoyable time. Thank you all. Below are some of my favorite photos. I will be making every effort to post all of the photos in the next day or two for online proofing and ordering. Until then, click the picture above or HERE and enjoy.
In the Shadow of Roundtop
Been a long while since I posted. I’ve been at Woodward Camp, both in California and then Pennsylvania, taking photos for camp advertising uses. I focused much of my attention on camp activities and general camp life, but I wound up shooting gymnastics and other things as well. I got a lot of good photos that I am very happy with, and if you click the “Woodward, PA” link on the right you can see a collection of my favorites from Woodward Camp in Pennsylvania. I’ll be posting some Woodward, CA photos shortly.
Both camps are beautiful and I had a great time photographing each location. I met a lot of new people, had some great experiences, and I want to thank Woodward and everyone whom I photographed for a wonderful time at camp.
Thanks to you all and enjoy,
-Chris
Mabel Davis

Mabel Davis is a beautiful concrete park here in Austin. Lights were recently installed and the night sessions are on. Good scene, good people, good times. Click the “Mabel Davis” link at the right for a few more photos.
More Empire Photos
Apparently I was drunk when I posted the last post and somehow overlooked a few photos. So here are some more photos from the Empire inauguration session. Click on “Empire Returns” at the right to see the photos.
Empire Ramp
Empire BMX recently acquired more warehouse space, and so they decided to build a mini ramp/sauna. The ramp was built in two days by Ryan Corrigan along with Matt and Jeremy from VClub. Click the Empire Ramp link at the right to see photos from the construction and the first two sessions.
Bamboozled!
After building a bamboo house/ladder for my cat last year, I thought it would be fun and practical to build some bamboo shelves for my room. Well it turned out to be WAY more work than I had imagined, but it was fun (sometimes), and I do enjoy it now that it’s done. I say done, but I may continue to work on it. For now though I need a break and I’m just happy to have some shelves and get my room somewhat in order. If you would like to see some photos of my crafty-work, click the “Bamboozled” link on the right.
Cheers - Chris
Eye Tunes, Eye Photos

A recent acquaintance named Hugo invited me to a few interesting events on the UT Campus last night. The first was a performance by Duo Zingaresca which consisted of two Russian seven-string guitarists Oleg Timofeyev and Vadim Kolpakov. It was beautifully intricate music and a great performance. Click on the “Duo Zingaresca” link to the right to see photos.
Next we hustled on over to see a lecture by documentary photographer Andre Cypriano on ‘’Photographing Latin American Megacities'’. He presented an amazing slide show of black and white documentary work from various shanty towns across South America. His photos offer a view from the inside of a world that few outsiders could ever otherwise see. Click on Andre’s name above to visit his website and check out his work. It is well worth your time.
Thanks to Hugo for the invite and for opening my eyes to the opportunities that exist at UT.
